Just six days after a massive roll at Crandon International Raceway forced extensive repairs to his First Corner FC1, Hansen Motorsport’s Timmy Hansen scored the inaugural Hypercar checkered flag in RallyX Americas action from Eldora Speedway on Saturday night. In Supercar, JC Raceteknik’s Lukas Andersson became the first repeat winner of the season to further extend his championship lead.

Recaps of the action are as follows:

Qualifying Heats 1

Lukas Andersson and Johnny Holtger were first across the line in the Supercar heats and the two fastest drivers in the round for One Ethanol. Holtger faced some impressive early pressure from a hard-charging Lia Block; unfortunately, over-rotation coming out of the infield section early in the session saw Block hit the inside wall on the front stretch, ending her hopes of crossing the line first early.

Timmy Hansen was first across the line in the first Hypercar heat after being fastest in warmup, and he’d lay down a time that no other driver could match. Robin Larsson led Jimmy Henderson across the line in the second as Block—pulling double duty this week—missed the infield entry early on, while an intense battle in the final session between brothers Oliver and Kevin Eriksson and Tommi Hallman ended with Oliver holding Kevin off.

Qualifying Heats 2

Gary Donoghue would pace the first Supercar heat, pulling away from an intense battle between Gray Leadbetter and Alistair Scully, while Andersson would get back out front of the second heat. The field would finish in almost the same order in the second round as it did in the first, with the exception of dirt oval specialist Tyler Leach posting the third fastest time and Banks Hovey fourth.

Block would spend most of the first Hypercar heat up front, but after missing the inside tires on her Joker, she’d take it a second time to yield the track position to Jimmy Henderson. Mikaela Ahlin-Kottulinsky would hit the outside wall at speed on the out lap of the second heat, setting up another head-to-head battle between Round 2 protagonists Kevin Eriksson and Tommi Hallman; this time Eriksson would cross the line first.

A mega outside lane start from Oliver Eriksson would see him pace the final heat, but he’d have to weather intense challenges from both Robin Larsson and Timmy Hansen along the way after clipping the inside tires while coming into the infield section to Joker. The trio would be separated by just half a second, but the intensity of the fight would give Kevin Eriksson the fastest time of the round.

Qualifying Heats 3

Leadbetter would take the initial lead on the first Supercar heat with a great start, but contact from Block that would also collect Scully gave Donoghue another clear track. A power steering-less Andersson and Holtger would again go 1-2 in the other heat, but Leach and Hovey would get into it multiple times, ending with Leach being forced wide by Hovey trying to enter the infield and running an extra lap of the oval. After review, both drivers would receive penalties that cancelled each other out on position.

Amanda Sorensen would jump the initial attempt at the first Hypercar start, but she’d take the lead on the restart before getting both of her Jokers out of the way. Ahlin-Kottulinsky would try to defend her spot from Block on the out lap, but would spin off Block’s bumper; Block would therefore have a clean run for the rest of the race and cross the line first.

Robin Larsson and Jimmy Henderson would trade track position in the second Hypercar heat when Larsson Jokered early from the lead, but Larsson would be rewarded with a clean track as Henderson would face intense pressure from Timmy Hansen. The brothers Eriksson and Hallman would face off for the second time in three rounds in the final Hypercar heat, and Oliver would once again lead Kevin across the line.

Semifinals

Andersson and Leach would jump out to the first two spots in the first Supercar semifinal, while Leadbetter and Donoghue would trade the final transfer spot twice in the final two laps. Leadbetter would recover from a poor start to get past Donoghue through Joker strategy, but Donoghue would bump her out of the way in the final corner to get to the line first.

Hovey would shoot out to the initial lead in the second Supercar final and maintain it despite Joking before Holtger, while Scully would coast to the final transfer spot after a broken right rear suspension ended the Supercar portion of Block’s night early.

Larsson and Kevin Eriksson would bump and bang for the lead in the first Hypercar semifinal, but it would all go wrong for Larsson when he got tagged from behind after a wide infield entry and hit the outside barriers. But Ahlin-Kottulinsky would get revenge for her JC Raceteknik teammate, coming out alongside Eriksson when he Jokered on the final lap and muscling past out of the final corner for the semifinal win, with Hallman in the final transfer spot to the A main ahead of Sorensen and Larsson.

Oliver Eriksson and Hansen would have a duel of their own for the lead in the second semifinal, but Hansen’s decision to Joker with three to go instead of two gave him the advantage. Eriksson would go extra wide coming into the infield to try and get past again, but it was to no avail; Block would claim third place over Henderson.

Supercar A Final

Andersson would take the initial A Final lead over Hovey, who went straight from backflipping an electric dirtbike during the intermission to starting from the outside of the front row. Separate issues for both Holtger and Scully would drop them well out of the lead pack. Leach would gain second place by waiting until the final lap to Joker, but Hovey would go wide while trying to make the pass back, meaning he’d have to settle for the final podium spot.

Hypercar B Final

Larsson would challenge Henderson hard from the back row on the start, enabling Sorensen to pounce into an early lead in the Hypercar B Final. But when Sorensen went wide into the infield from the lead, Henderson would pass her as both went into the Joker, and their resulting duel would allow Larsson to grab the lead and pull away. On the final lap, Henderson would clip the inside tires while turning into the infield, giving second place back to Sorensen.

Hypercar A Final

Hansen jetted out to the top spot from the inside of the first row as most of the field shuffled behind him on the out lap through the oval. Oliver Eriksson and Hallman would initially settle out into the second and third spots, but Hallman would Joker early and drop behind Kevin Eriksson in third to take his chances on time to get past. The Erikssons Jokered together with two to go and Hallman capitalized, but Hansen was still untouchable up front as he completed the comeback from Crandon last week.
