• 2009 Trans Am champion Tomy Drissi looks to lock up third place in the 2026 championship in Sunday’s finale from Circuit of the Americas
  • Drissi has taken five podiums at COTA over the past nine years
  • 2012 Trans Am champion Simon Gregg returns to the team’s second car this weekend and will chase his second podium of the year

Former Trans Am champions Tomy Drissi and Simon Gregg will reunite to finish the 2026 Trans Am season at Circuit of the Americas with Drissi Motorsports this weekend. They’ll bring the team’s #8 and #59 Trench Shoring Company/Motul/Petersen Automotive Museum Chevrolet Camaros to a track where the team has seen plenty of success in recent years, as Drissi aims to secure third place in the championship and Gregg looks for his second podium of the year.

Over the past six Trans Am seasons, Drissi has been vice champion four times and added two third place finishes in the standings. He comes into this weekend on pace for another third place at season’s end, thanks to four podiums—including two second-place finishes—and eight top-fives. Additional team entries have added three top-fives and one podium, a third place finish for Gregg in the second leg of the Sonoma Raceway doubleheader.

2026 will mark Trans Am’s final visit to COTA as the track goes private for 2027 and beyond. Drissi has taken full advantage of the famed Texas circuit over the past decade, earning four third-place finishes in five years from 2017-21, pairing up with Don Yount for a double podium for the team in 2024, and scoring a pair of top-five finishes alongside Gregg last year.

“It’s bittersweet to know that we won’t be back at Circuit of the Americas next season, but that’s just extra motivation to make sure we make this weekend count,” said Drissi. “The Drissi Motorsports team has worked so hard all year long, and the best way to reward them would be to take one more podium to wrap up the Trans Am season. It’ll be extra special if we can bring home one last trophy from COTA, and I’m going to do everything I can to make it happen!”

“It’s exciting to be back with Drissi Motorsports to wrap up the season at Circuit of the Americas,” said Gregg. “We ran our first race together here last year, and the last time I got in the car we were on the podium. We’re going to do our best to get another this Sunday!”

On-track action for Drissi Motorsports begins on Friday, with two test sessions at 11:10AM and 4:45PM, while Saturday will see practice at 8:50AM and qualifying at 2:30PM. Sunday’s season finale will go green at 12:55PM for 30 laps or 75 minutes. As always, Racing America will have live coverage, with practice, qualifying, and the race itself all streaming for free; tickets also remain available for fans to watch the finale in person.
