  • #CORR: Clean Sweeps for Top Pros, Youth Racers Highlight CORR Round 4 at Firebird

The 2025 portion of Championship Off-Road Racing (CORR)’s 2025-26 season is officially in the books after Sunday’s action at Firebird Motorsports Park, and Round 4 of the campaign produced some of the most exciting racing of the season so far. When all was said and done, Koen Crawford (Pro SXS) and John Holtger (Pro Lite) headlined a long list of winners who managed to sweep the weekend—10 in all.

Crawford’s sweep is just the latest in a long list of wild moments that have made Pro SXS anyone’s championship to win. Not only did the sprint car convert come out to Firebird as a one-off and win both races, but the field also saw issues for Saturday podium finishers and title contenders Beau Judge (flat tire) and Jason Weller (rollover). As a result, Kyle Arkenau and Bryan McCormick earned their first podium finishes of the season.

“This is definitely a surprise,” said Crawford. “I came out here just to have some fun and hopefully run mid-pack with these guys, but ended up not too bad, so I’ll take it!”

Holtger now boasts a comfortable lead in Pro Lite thanks Michael Funk’s fill-in efforts in October. Funk finished first and second in that event, and he’s been rewarded for his efforts with a second truck as teammate to Holtger; this weekend, he finished second on both days.

Pro NA didn’t produce a repeat winner on the weekend, but it did see its first two-time winner on the season after Ryder Chapman held off Ryder VanBeekum in a thrilling battle in the closing laps. The close friends and R-N-R Steel Racing teammates kept it clean to the finish, crossing the line just .173 seconds apart. As a result, VanBeekum now leads Chapman by a single point, 157-156, in the standings.

“That was a fun race,” Chapman said. “Towards the end, I really had to lock in, because he was right there the whole time. It was really fun being able to race hard and clean the whole time. I loved being door to door, and the adrenaline of it was just amazing.”

In a remarkable feat for CORR’s top youth racers, all seven of Saturday’s winners ran it back on Sunday, starting with Bryce Tomassi (170 Production) and Elliott Brooke (250 Modified) taking their second wins of the season. Tomassi became the first repeat winner in one of CORR’s deepest fields, while Brooke equaled Brody Kline’s back-to-back wins from Firebird in October.

From there, Stetson Wyman (170 Limited) and Addie Atteberry (800 Open) scored their third wins in a row, Kyle Niner (Youth Production) and Ryder Greco (Youth Restricted) kept their perfect seasons alive, and Saturday’s entire Youth SXS podium of Mikey Childress, Kash Hart, and Kody Krantz reprised their finishing positions before the intermission.

Niner and Greco are the last remaining drivers with a perfect season after Mia Chapman came home third in Pro Production. In the closing laps, Chapman and Rylen Lane fought with everything they had to get past Jeremy Spears, but last lap contact and damage dropped Chapman to the final podium spot as Spears scored his first win of the season.

Michael Burnstein came out on top in Pro Am Turbo, while Carson Greco (Pro Am) and Paul O’Brien (SR1) returned to the top steps of the podium for the third time apiece this season. In the multi-class Sportsman race, Saturday runners-up Austin Dorn and Matt Dyer did one spot better in their respective divisions to round out the list of winners.

  • #CORR: Three Winners in Three Races for Top CORR Classes After Saturday Action at Firebird

#CORR: Three Winners in Three Races for Top CORR Classes After Saturday Action at Firebird

Three of Championship Off-Road Racing (CORR)’s top Pro classes have seen three different winners in as many races to start the 2025-26 season after Saturday’s action at Firebird Motorsports Park. Koen Crawford (Pro SXS) and Johnny Holtger (Pro Lite) took wins in their first turns behind the wheel this season, while Trent Ouellette (Pro NA) broke through after posting the top qualifying time at both events so far this year.

Crawford was one of many newcomers in CORR’s top SXS class, which swelled from 10 entries at Firebird two months ago to 17 this weekend. He outlasted the field in a hard-fought race that saw multiple early incidents and a hard fight from Beau Judge, who nonetheless walked away with his third podium of the season.

“It was great!” said Crawford. “We struggled in qualifying with some turbo issues, but we got the boost figured out. I’d just like to thank Beau, he raced me perfectly clean, and that was probably the most fun race I’ve had in a while. After the mandatory (caution), I lost brakes—they went straight to the floor, it was definitely a struggle to get around.”

“It was an awesome battle between us two,” added Judge. “He was driving the wheels off his car, I was driving the wheels off my car. On the restart, I thought I had him, but he was just able to pull back ahead of me again. But it was totally fun—he was racing me clean, and it was great.”

For Holtger, Saturday was his second credited win of the season, after Michael Funk filled in for him in October and won the opener. For his efforts, Funk was rewarded with a ride of his own this time around, scoring second place. Ouellette, meanwhile, had to hold off Ryder Vanbeekum and Ryder Chapman for the Pro NA checkered flag, as all three of that class’s winners so far this year shared the podium.

“It’s been a lot of work to get here,” said Ouellette. “Qualifying went really good yesterday, I just wanted to get out front and have a clean race. Me and Bobby (Vanbeekum) had a good battle going the first couple laps, then he broke, but then my spotter said Ryder was right there, we gotta go, gotta go. It was a really fun race!”

Only Mia Chapman could buck the trend in the Pro classes, taking her third straight Pro Production win thanks in part to an exciting outside pass around Rylen Lane after the mid-race restart. The only other drivers with perfect seasons so far are Kyle Niner in Youth Production and Ryder Greco in Youth Restricted.

Mikey Childress and Kash Hart are set for one of the toughest battles of the year in Youth SXS after splitting the opener, and it was Childress who broke the tie with his second win of the season as Hart clawed his way from the back of the pack to second on Saturday. Paul O’Brien also added his second win of the season in SR1, while Stetson Wyman (170 Limited) and Addie Atteberry (800 Open) are now on two-race winning streaks.

Like the top two Pro classes, a deep 170 Production field has seen three winners in as many rounds, with Bryce Tomassi the latest. Also scoring their first wins of the season were Elliott Brooke (250 Modified), Jayden Manchester-Coon (Pro Am), Rhyan Denney (Pro Am Turbo), Shaun Jones (Sportsman), and Calvin O’Dell (Sportsman Turbo).

#CORR Returns to Action at Firebird with Friday Qualifying; Krajicek, Holtger Post Fastest Laps

Pro SXS racer Kolton Krajicek paced the Championship Off-Road Racing (CORR) field in Friday qualifying for this weekend’s doubleheader at Firebird Motorsports Park, the third and fourth rounds of the 2025-26 season. Krajicek’s 53.720 nipped top October qualifier Beau Judge by just .274 seconds for the top spot, as less than a second separated the top five in both Pro SXS and Pro NA.

Two months ago, just five drivers were able to crack the one-minute mark in their qualifying laps; this weekend, the pace picked up considerably. Pro Lite, Pro Am Turbo, SR1, and Youth SXS all ratcheted up their speeds to crack the 60-second barrier, with Midwest champion Johnny Holtger’s season debut in Pro Lite seeing him post the second-fastest pole lap of the entire weekend.

Fastest racers on Friday who also posted the top times in October included Carson Greco (Pro Am), Trent Ouellette (Pro NA), Andre Tomei (Pro Am Turbo), Ryder Greco (Youth Restricted), and Addie Atteberry (800 Open). The smallest margin between first and second went down to Youth SXS title rivals Kash Hart and Mikey Childress, who were split by just .105 seconds, closely followed by SR1, where Larry Hayes bested Paul O’Brien by just .111.

Provisional top qualifiers on Friday included the following:

  • #PPIHC: Behind the Wheel – JR Hildebrand

#PPIHC: Behind the Wheel – JR Hildebrand

    Co-written/edited by Lisa Haight

INDYCAR STAR HILDEBRAND ADAPTS ICONIC NASCAR MACHINE TO PIKES PEAK AFTER LAST-MINUTE PROGRAM SWITCH

Colorado Springs, CO – The Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, presented by Gran Turismo, has welcomed thousands of the most talented race drivers in the world over its 103-year history, many who made their name in other racing series prior to taking on the mountain. One thing is for certain among them: none are content to settle for the expected, and all are looking to push themselves to the limit.

Few modern racers embody that spirit more than JR Hildebrand. While he’s best known by many for his INDYCAR career, his name has appeared frequently on the Pikes Peak entry list, often with the intent of adapting something from another form of racing to tackle the mountain. Although his 2025 entry wasn’t the one he initially planned on, it became one of the signature machines of this year’s event.

FROM OPEN WHEEL TO OPEN RULEBOOKS

Hildebrand’s debut on the mountain came in 2018, when he finished second in the inaugural Porsche Pikes Peak Trophy by Yokohama division. He admits that he fell in love with it right away, not only for the “audacity of the challenge,” but also for the sheer diversity of machines on the entry list—a stark contrast not only to the spec chassis of INDYCAR, but also to the Cayman GT4 Clubsport models in his debut.

“Getting there, spending race week with all the other competitors, seeing what everybody else is doing, really seeing the variety of what’s up on the mountain every year—but doing so by being among that community—it really punches you in the face,” he says. “(You) see how wide that void is, the number of different ways that people are showing up with their teams and crews and cars, from multi-million dollar factory prototypes like Volkswagen and Ford to homegrown builds and programs run out of people’s garages.

“I’m coming from the world of mainstream motorsport, where everything has just become increasingly more strict and constrained in terms of what you’re allowed to do. I think the fact that Pikes Peak stands in stark contrast to that is what really made it feel like it mattered to me, when I did it the first time around in 2018.”

Bitten by the bug, Hildebrand made two attempts to adapt a Dallara IR-18 to go from INDYCAR to Pikes Peak, but neither came to fruition. That taught him an important lesson: have a plan B.

“In the background, I’ve been making sure that should these kinds of situations arise, or should I just get to a point where I don’t have anything, major or not, to be sure that I can come do it on my own accord,” he adds. “That’s really where this program ended up this year.”

    A HOT SET OF WHEELS

Enter Kyle Petty’s NASCAR Cup Series Pontiac Grand Prix, still carrying its iconic #44 and the Hot Wheels colors that dominated so many toy aisles in the 90s. Hildebrand was originally slated to compete in a 2025 Chevrolet Corvette in the Time Attack 1 division, but had to pivot after that program came apart late in the spring. So, he switched gears to prep one of America’s most famous stock cars for a run up the mountain, prepping it in a single-car garage and even making a motor swap after heading to Colorado.

The team got the car to Colorado Springs before the second test weekend, discovered an issue while testing at Pueblo Motorsports Park, and spent the week before race week getting a new engine shipped and swapped in.

“We hadn’t even got the car up on the mountain yet, and it already generated quite a bit of hype,” he admits. “I have a lot of crazy ideas in my head, and I know that not all of them register to everybody all the time. The things that I think are cool, I’m fully willing to accept that not all of them are cool in a mainstream sense.

“But the thing that’s been interesting is how many race fans and people from NASCAR heard about this. I think a lot of it is on the grounds that this car is so beloved. Going every year (to Sonoma) to watch this car race, next to the 3, this was the car that I was cheering for the most. I definitely have a personal connection to it.”

“On Instagram, a number of the followers I picked up from posting about it, I think are really just diehard NASCAR fans that remember the car in that time period in the sport who were excited to see the car back in action. I think it speaks to the power of the openness that Pikes Peak allows for. It’s really special in terms of the ability to do unusual things.”

Of course, the last-minute switch meant a highly compressed timeline, and that meant keeping things close to original spec. While Hildebrand admits that he could have developed all sorts of areas on the car with six months of prep time, the #44 showed up with Jeff Gordon’s race-winning Sonoma setup in 1998, courtesy of Ray Evernham, as its baseline.

“Frankly, racing the car at Pikes Peak has always been on the back of my mind. It’s been something that I’ve talked about since I got the car two years ago. But it certainly wasn’t the plan for this year up until like May. You’re in a hole now, you have a whole other level of needing for things not to go wrong.

“Pikes Peak is a true professional race. There’s real risk. You’re on track with a bunch of other competitors who are, in essence, relying on you not to have problems.”

    JR Hildebrand

    STOCK CAR SUPERSTAR

The 156 turns of Pikes Peak may not be quite like the orange track of a Hot Wheels set, but putting a classic NASCAR ride above the clouds made for some of the most popular pictures of race week. While he admitted that he had no idea where he’d stack up in Pikes Peak Open going into the race, Hildebrand’s program only picked up more momentum as race week went on, and not just because fans were flocking to the familiar machine.

In fact, it was only event rules that kept him out of this year’s Fast 15. As the last car off the line in Thursday qualifying, he posted a 4:08.429 on his third run, but because not everyone looking to make a pass got to run, it didn’t count. Still, Hildebrand was thrilled to have the car in great working order in time for Sunday’s race.

“I was just so glad to finally get the car running right, just in time for qualifying,” he said. “We were still figuring a few things out, but it felt more like we’re in fine tuning mode. We had done a rear gearing change overnight, so the first run was a little easy just to break that in. The second run was still on old tires, but I had the gearing strategy dialed in my head, and we threw stickers on it and picked off another four or five seconds on the last run.”

On the shortened course on race day, Hildebrand and his team scored the fourth-fastest time in Pikes Peak Open. PPIHC veterans Jimmy Ford and Loni Unser, and winner Romain Dumas in the Ford Super Mustang Mach E, placed ahead of him. It was a diverse group of machines that echoed Hildebrand’s love for the wide-open takes on motorsport that Pikes Peak rewards each year.

“That’s kind of the beauty of it, the fact that with my 1999 Hot Wheels NASCAR car, I’m in the same group as Romain Dumas in the full prototype Mach E,” Hildebrand says. “It’s really what makes the whole thing cool. I think that that’s a perfect reflection of not only how Pikes Peak is different than most other racing these days, but also where there is room to take advantage of kind of writing your own script.

“I’ve been around motorsport, and I’ve been really fortunate to be a hired gun, for a long time, but you kind of get into having to make sense of the commercial side of it. I think going forward it’s going to be all about writing your own script, telling a different and compelling story. As far as I’m concerned, this is just kind of the tip of the iceberg.”

    Fun Facts:

“I have a two year old daughter at home, and that’s soaking up a lot of my time. I’m loving every minute of it!”

“People often bring up that I accepted admission to MIT. But, I always say I don’t really know what it says about how smart I am since I decided to become a professional race car driver instead!”

“I’ve been the human guinea pig more than once for the autonomous vehicle program with Stanford University, where I’m an adjunct lecturer. It’s been kind of fun to see where the artificial competition is now, and how it’s been stacking up over the years. When I first got into the program in 2014 or ’15, I was just there to drive the car that can function autonomously, and rip a lap, as a human, to be the datum lap for them to compare the autonomous system against.”

Biggest challenges: “It’s hard not to think that the biggest challenge is the unknown conditions. Until race day, you don’t really know what the story is going to be when you get up on the mountain.”

Favorite section of the mountain: “The top section, because when I did it (in 2018), I didn’t do any of the testing, and during race week, there was fog. My only decent run in clear conditions on the top was on race day. It feels like the most challenging section.”

Favorite moments during race week: “When you finish your section—and I think it’s most visceral or memorable on the top or the middle section just because of where you’re parked—you’re kind of sitting there waiting, looking out over the mountain at the switchbacks or you’re sitting there above the clouds as the sun is starting to get through.

That’s just one of those spiritual motorsport experiences where you’ve got no qualms with anything. Your phone doesn’t work, your radio doesn’t work. If you’re one of the first people out there, then sometimes you get out of the car, or you’re talking with somebody…It’s an incredible moment to take in.”

Other than Pikes Peak, what are some of your favorite racetracks? “When you race the INDYCAR Series for a long time, there’s no way not to pick out Indianapolis as one of the places. It’s got a lot of the same reasons that I love the mountain—it really, really requires you to distill down why you’re there.

“You have to meet that purpose with a level of commitment that you’re going to feel good about when you walk away, and you set your own expectation of what you’re going to do. They just require a different type of attitude than your average racetrack. It really heightens how much you have to care about it. I think it was part of why I felt like I was pretty good at Pikes Peak right away, because despite how it’s different there’s an attitude that was pretty apples to apples.

“As far as road courses go, Road Atlanta is one of my all time favorites. Sears Point, now Sonoma, is where I grew up racing, and so every time I go back there, I remember why I think it’s so great.”

#RallyX Americas Unveils 2026 Calendar, Classes

Doubleheaders at Crandon, Eldora, Trois-Rivieres to comprise championship schedule; additional invitational events following season

FC1, FC2, Open 2WD, and Cross Car classes set to compete

Racer search underway before open test session in February

INDIANAPOLIS – RallyX Americas is pleased to unveil its 2026 plans today at the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) Show. Joining USAC for its live stream, series founder Andreas Eriksson unveiled six races at premier venues in both the United States and Canada, welcoming promoters from each venue, while confirming a four-class program that showcases a true ladder from youth competition to the highest levels of the sport.

“We’re thrilled to return the sport of rallycross to a high level in America with the creation of RallyX Americas,” said Eriksson. “We couldn’t be more excited to work with three of the best race tracks and promoters in America to create a stable set of events that will help us grow the sport. We look forward to welcoming a broad slate of professional and grassroots race teams alike to our events, and we can’t wait to throw the first green flag at Crandon in June!”

    2026 SCHEDULE

The full 2026 RallyX Americas schedule is as follows:

    1. June 20 / Crandon International Raceway, Crandon, WI
    2. June 21 / Crandon International Raceway, Crandon, WI
    3. June 27 / Eldora Speedway, Rossburg, OH
    4. June 28 / Eldora Speedway, Rossburg, OH
    5. August 22 / Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières, Trois-Rivières, QC (provisional)
    6. August 23 / Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières, Trois-Rivières, QC (provisional)

Following the season, RallyX Americas teams will be invited to compete in multiple all-star and invitational events, with format and class details to be announced:

    • September 5-6 / Crandon World Cup, Crandon International Raceway, Crandon, WI
    • October 24-25 / RallyX Global Event, Montalegre Circuit, Montalegre, Portugal

“Since 1970, Crandon International Raceway has been the unwavering home to off-road racing in the United States. Being part of the expanded worldwide 2026 RallyX series not only provides rally motorsports a stable home in America, but also adds an international flair to Crandon ‘International’ Raceway,” stated Crandon Promoter Marty Fiolka.

“Bringing a RallyX event—one of the fastest-growing motorsports on the planet—to the world’s greatest dirt track is something we’re truly excited about. Showcasing a different style of racing beyond our traditional Sprint Car and Late Model programs lets us share the Eldora experience with fans who may be seeing this place for the first time. We can’t wait to welcome the fast cars and standout drivers of RallyX to Eldora,” said Levi Jones, General Manager, Eldora Speedway.

“As one of North America’s premier legacy rallycross organizers, it is an honour and a privilege to be considered to join such an exciting and competitive championship as RallyX Americas. Also, being right in the heart of Canada’s Energy Transition Valley industrial zone, we feel that it can benefit all parties in showcasing how breathtaking and innovating electric motorsports can be,” said Dominic Fugère, General Manager, Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières.

All RallyX Americas events will feature live streaming, as the series’ European events do. More information on live streaming will be made available closer to the start of the season.

    DYNAMIC DIVISIONS

Five classes are set to compete in the inaugural RallyX Americas season:

FC1 features the return of the 1,088 HP AWD electric machines that have revolutionized the sport of rallycross the world over. Now equipped with a 120 dB sound kit by Kicker Audio and sound designed by Borla, the FC1 will deliver an all-new experience in 2026.

FC2 brings classic Supercar-style rallycross back to America, with fire-breathing, 550 HP AWD machines that have proven themselves on both sides of the Atlantic.

Open 2WD returns top-level two-wheel drive rallycross to the United States and Canada. With a relatively free set of regulations, drivers with existing 2WD rally, road racing, and drift cars are encouraged to adapt their cars to take part.

Cross Car and Cross Car Junior give drivers as young as 12 years old the opportunity to race in a major professional series. With agile RWD cross cars like the First Corner FC5 producing up to 150 HP in a lightweight package, these machines are a low-cost entry point for young drivers to hone their skills on their way up RallyX’s traditional-styled ladder.

Additional guest classes may be included at select RallyX Americas events pending demand.

    WANT TO COMPETE?

RallyX Americas will hold an open test session for drivers interested in competing in its FC1, FC2, and Cross Car divisions in February 2026 in the southeastern United States. Interested drivers can fill out our Driver Search Application online at www.rallyxamericas.com in the coming weeks.

    Track Facts

Firebird Motorsports Park has been the most frequent host of CORR events, including the entirety of last season’s racing and three of this season’s events. The Arizona venue has undergone multiple reconfigurations since it was first built in 2008, with its current layout matching a high-flying frontstretch with a series of tight hairpins.

    Racer Spotlight

In the opening doubleheader, none of the drivers in Pro SXS or Pro NA could establish themselves as the definitive championship favorite; both classes are separated by six points or less in the top three. However, Ryder Chapman was able to take a win in both classes, putting him first in Pro NA by three over Ryder VanBeekum and tying him for second in Pro SXS with Beau Judge, five points back of Chase Carr.

Not so in Pro Production and Pro Am Turbo, which run together as a multi-class race. Mia Chapman and Steve Hoffman, respectively, swept the opener in their respective classes and take double-digit points leads into this weekend. The bigger question is who will be the first across the line, as they split that honor in October.

Brothers Carson and Ryder Greco made it a family affair on top of the box in October, with Carson sweeping both Pro Am races and Ryder doing the same in Youth Restricted. They have two of the largest points leads in the series coming into the weekend, with Carson 11 points ahead of Mikey Childress and Ryder up by 12 over Krew Hart.

Pulling double duty, Childress is in a heated battle with Kash Hart for top honors in Youth SXS. Childress drew first blood in the opening round in October, while Hart backed up his second-place finish in that race by beating Childress in the second race.

The largest points lead in the series belongs to 170 Production driver Banks Bawden. As one of the largest classes in CORR, a double podium on any weekend means a huge points haul; thanks to finishes of second and first in October, Bawden takes a 17-point advantage over Krayton O’Connor into this weekend.

Finally, Johnny Holtger makes his season debut behind the wheel in Pro Lite after Michael Funk filled in for him at the first event. Holtger has been the Pro Lite driver to beat in the Midwest in recent years, and Funk took a win and second place in the opening event as his substitute to allow him to enter the weekend tied for the points lead with Tobias Chevalier.

All CORR races will feature television coverage on the RACER Network, as well as free live streaming on multiple platforms. Click here for the full CORR schedule.
