#TransAm: Double Top Five for Drissi Motorsports at Watkins Glen After Late Addition

- Drissi Motorsports Chevrolet Camaros finished fourth and fifth in Trans Am action at Watkins Glen International on Sunday
- Tomy Drissi offered Drissi Motorsports’ second car to longtime championship rival Amy Ruman after Ruman suffered an accident in testing
- Drissi’s fourth place finish allowed him to keep up his pursuit of Adam Andretti for second in the Trans Am championship battle
Drissi Motorsports scored its first double top five of the 2025 Trans Am by Pirelli season on Sunday at Watkins Glen International after a unique situation on race day gave the team a second entry at the last minute. 2009 Trans Am champion Tomy Drissi finished fourth in the #8 Trench Shoring Company/Motul/Franklin Road Apparel Chevrolet Camaro, while Amy Ruman placed fifth in the #7 Chevrolet Camaro, which returned to the track for the first time since Road Atlanta in the spring.
In the team’s flagship #8 car, Drissi had a typically consistent race weekend despite issues with his radio and cooling system all race long. He qualified fourth and ran there for the entire race, once again collecting solid points as he extended his top five streak to six consecutive races. The finish ensured that he would stay within reach of Adam Andretti for second in the Trans Am championship with four races remaining.
“In the end we had a decent weekend and managed to run to the finish,” said Drissi. “We had a car to race for the podium, but because our radio and cooling systems shut down as we left the grid, I was burning inside of the car all race. It was one of my most difficult races in a long time, but I wasn’t going to let the crew or myself down by pulling off, so we stayed with it and didn’t give up.”
The opportunity to run the #7 car arose when Ruman suffered a major incident in Saturday testing that rendered her car unrepairable in time for Sunday’s race. With the #7 Camaro on site and otherwise dormant, Drissi and Ruman came to an agreement to allow her to use the car on Sunday—unique in part because the two drivers have been fiercely battling for on-track and points positions all season long.
“Trans Am is one big family, and it’s important that we support one another both on the track and off,” said Drissi. “Amy and I have been locked in a close battle for third in points for most of the season, and the fans deserved to be able to see us continue that battle. We had our second car available for this weekend, so it was a no-brainer to offer Amy the seat after her practice crash and make sure our points battle was settled on race day.”
With the busiest stretch of the Trans Am season—three events in four weekends—now in the books, Drissi Motorsports will regroup before heading north of the border to Canadian Tire Motorsport Park on August 28-31. Drissi finished third in the series’ only Canadian round last year. Click here to buy tickets to watch Tomy race!

#ChampOffRoad: Gray Leadbetter Equals Season-Best Finish with Fourth Place at ERX

Professional off-road racer Gray Leadbetter continues to make gains every weekend in her rookie Pro Lite season in Championship Off-Road, and last weekend’s visit to ERX Motor Park was no exception. The driver of the #28 On Track School/Yokohama/Pepper Palace/Ryan Beat Motorsports Chevrolet equaled her season-best finish on Saturday with a fourth place run, coming within just a few seconds of her first podium of the season.
Sunday’s race saw Leadbetter cross the line sixth, ensuring that she’d finish both races for the second straight event. The results allowed Leadbetter to keep her hold on fifth in the championship, with a 10-point advantage over two drivers tied for sixth and now sitting within seven points of fourth.
“We’re really beginning to find a rhythm as the season carries on,” said Leadbetter. “It was great to get back to ERX and see all the fans in Minnesota after missing them last year. We managed to stay out of trouble and score some decent points as we set our sights on Dirt City at the end of the month.”

#PPIHC: Behind the Wheel – Lew Bouchier

LEW BOUCHIER BRINGS PORSCHE GT3 TO PIKES PEAK IN SECOND ATTEMPT AT GLORY
Colorado Springs, CO – The Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, presented by Gran Turismo attracts one of the most unique entry lists in racing, from factory-backed and internationally renowned race teams to club racers looking for the thrill of conquering those famous 156 turns in the Race to the Clouds. It can be a humbling experience for even the biggest names, but for the rookies who make the cut, there’s something that draws them back to America’s Mountain.
In this year’s 103rd Running, Lew Bouchier was part of that esteemed entry list for the second time, following his debut two years ago. Armed with a new car, extra experience, and a great appreciation for the mountain, the Austin, Texas native took on the Unlimited division in his Porsche GT3 after running with an Exhibition entry in his rookie year.
RETURNING TO THE MOUNTAIN
“My rookie year, I was returning to the practice line in the upper section, driving down with Jeff Zwart in front of me, David Donohue behind me, and me sandwiched between two of the world’s favorite Porsche drivers in my air-cooled Porsche FABCAR,” Bouchier says of his first time on the mountain in 2023.
“I had a healthy dose of imposter syndrome. I was in awe of the beautiful sight, but ready to be discovered that I didn’t belong and told to leave; instead, to my surprise, I was invited back!”
Bouchier’s first attempt at reaching the summit was a success; he’d cross the finish line in 11:09.611, eighth-fastest of the rookies.
“In 2023, I blindly brought my air-cooled Porsche club race car to PPIHC,” he says. “Talk about deep water, I was in awe over how unprepared I was, and how quick and happy my 911 was! This year I made the switch from air-cooled to my first water-cooled Porsche. I have leapt into the current century!”
NEW RIDE – NEW MOTIVATION
“The car is a 2003 Porsche Cup car with a turbo engine conversion,” Bouchier explains. “This conversion put it either in Pikes Peak Open or Unlimited. My crew loved the Unlimited option, so we chose that to motivate them.”
Better yet, Bouchier received bragging rights among his friends after his successful run this year. The car had passed through the hands of two other drivers before he took it on.
“I fell in love with my car immediately when my friend said he was going to buy it,” he continues. “I told him that the car was too much for him. He bought it anyway, drove it once, and said it’s too much car. He sold it to a friend of mine, whom I have known since the sixth grade, who said it was too fast for him also. I thought, ‘That car is perfect for Pikes Peak!’”
“One of the things I was most looking forward to was seeing my friends on the mountain who know hard this race is!” – Lew Bouchier
PORSCHE POWER
Being behind the wheel of a Porsche on Pikes Peak is a unique honor, and one that Bouchier takes seriously. “I’m humbled to be around the fastest Porsche cars and drivers in history: David Donohue, Kathy Mead, and Jeff Zwart,” he admits. Each has given him a piece of advice that he’s implemented.
“It was Jeff Zwart who told me to tape the bottom of my helmet visor so when the sun is coming up over Kansas, you won’t be blinded by looking down at it. The advice kept me from scaring myself to death – thanks Jeff!
“Kathy Mead said to me ‘It’s hard, you should try it!’ Funny, not funny – thanks Kathy!
“David Donohue reminded me in the rain what a beautiful mountain road PPIHC is – thanks David!”
Bouchier finished the weather-shortened course in 04:23.672, for 8th in the Unlimited division, and an impressive 14th overall.
GET TO KNOW LEW BOUCHIER
Fun Facts:
“The first time I ever drove up Pikes Peak was May, 2023, shortly before we started practicing in June.”
“I bought my first Porsche in 1990 from a friend after riding in it for the very first time. I made him sell it to me on the spot!”
“Preparation for this year’s race consisted of a basic diet of stress, tacos, and sleeplessness.”
Favorite section: “The lower section of the mountain is my favorite, it’s a beautiful place to drive your Porsche in a real road racing environment. As you go up, it just gets faster.”
Advice for a PPIHC rookie: “You’re racing the mountain! When they asked Nigel Mansell ‘How was the course?’ when racing at Road America, he said ‘The back Nine was particularly challenging,’ Making a clever comparison between golf and racing. It’s a similar game; a similar foe, yourself! Pikes Peak puts the two together like I have never seen before, it’s captivating.”
Biggest challenges: “Communication with the crew, my car, and of course, the Mountain.”
Favorite track: “Road America in Elkhart Lake, WI.”
Must-haves on the mountain: “Tire temp, turbo boost, adrenaline, and sometimes sleep!”

#TransAm: Tomy Drissi Closes Out Busiest Stretch of Trans Am Season at Watkins Glen

- Tomy Drissi remains third in the Trans Am championship coming into this weekend’s action at Watkins Glen
- In his first two Trans Am starts at the track, Tomy locked up his first series title in 2009 and went from sixth on the grid to win in 2018
- Drissi’s other accomplishments at Watkins Glen include numerous Trans Am podiums and multiple NASCAR and IMSA starts
As the busiest stretch of the 2025 Trans Am by Pirelli season wraps up, 2009 Trans Am champion Tomy Drissi and Drissi Motorsports return to the Finger Lakes region of New York this weekend for the Watkins Glen SpeedTour at Watkins Glen International. Currently sitting third in the championship, Drissi will look to score another podium with the #8 Trench Shoring Company/Motul/Franklin Road Apparel Chevrolet Camaro before the series takes a well-deserved break until the end of August.
More than once this year, Drissi has come out on top of the most exciting battle of a Trans Am race, and the most recent round at Road America two weeks ago was no exception. In the closing laps, he found himself attacking for fourth place while defending fifth from a hard-charging Brandon Jones. He would make the climactic pass for fourth on Turn 5 of the final lap before breaking Jones’ draft on the frontstretch to defend the spot.
Drissi’s first two visits to Watkins Glen as a Trans Am driver were among his finest moments in the series. In 2009, he finished second to lock up his first series championship. He returned to the track in 2018 to take a thrilling victory, carving his way from sixth to first over the course of the day before holding off teammate Lawrence Loshak in a thrilling battle. He also scored the provisional victory in the first race of the 2021 doubleheader before post-race scoring adjustments. All told, Drissi has five Trans Am podiums at the iconic New York circuit, including a third place run last year, and he’s also competed at the track in series like the NASCAR Cup and Xfinity Series and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
“I have a lot of great memories at Watkins Glen in my career, and I’m hoping to make some more this weekend,” said Drissi. “I’ll never forget being able to celebrate my Trans Am championship here in 2009, my win coming through the field in 2018, or my NASCAR starts here. We’ve been building momentum over the busy summer months, and I can think of no better track for us to visit next than this one to take advantage of it!”
Trans Am action for Tomy Drissi and Drissi Motorsports from Watkins Glen kicks off with a pair of optional test sessions at 8:40AM and 11:30AM on Saturday, followed by practice at 3:45PM. After qualifying bright and early at 8AM on Sunday, the race will kick off at 12:05PM and run for 30 laps or 75 minutes. Live streaming will be available as always on Trans Am social media channels and SPEED SPORT 1.
To keep up with Tomy Drissi, follow @tomydrissi on Instagram and Facebook, and visit www.tomydrissi.com. Following Watkins Glen, Drissi Motorsports returns to action on August 28-31 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

#ChampOffRoad: Gray Leadbetter Returns to ERX Motor Park Looking for More Success

Professional off-road racer Gray Leadbetter returns to ERX Motor Park for the first time in two years for this weekend’s Championship Off-Road ERX Off-Road National. Approaching the halfway point of the season, Leadbetter remains fifth in Pro Lite points in the #28 On Track School/Yokohama/Pepper Palace/Ryan Beat Motorsports truck, best among all of this year’s true rookies.
A pair of fifth place finishes in last month’s Forest County Potawatomi Brush Run at Crandon International Raceway marked Leadbetter’s most consistent weekend yet. The top-fives, her third and fourth of the season, allowed her to strengthen her hold on fifth in points as she prepares for her return to ERX. While she missed this event as a Pro SXS driver last year due to her Extreme E commitments, Leadbetter and RBM have excelled together, at the Minnesota track in the past, taking a win and second in Pro SPEC in both 2022 and 2023.
“I missed getting to race at ERX last year, but I’m ready to make up for lost time this weekend,” said Leadbetter. “Our pair of top fives at Crandon were our most consistent run yet, and we’re feeling good about building on that at ERX. Having won here multiple times with Ryan in Pro SPEC, we’re excited to have the chance to do the same thing in Pro Lite!”
Just like Gray brings the heat to the race track with her Pro Lite, her partners Pepper Palace have the heat covered off track at your next gathering. Fans looking for bold flavors of hot sauce, dry spice, wing sauce, salsa, and much more can use the code GRAY for 25% off their next order at PepperPalace.com!
Leadbetter will be on track all weekend long as ERX shifts its race days to Saturday and Sunday for this year’s event. She’ll practice at 12PM and qualify at 3:10PM on Friday, before racing at 5:15PM on Saturday and 3:15PM on Sunday. Tickets can be purchased online through the track, while live streaming will be available all weekend long via FloRacing. A broadcast encore can be seen on August 2 at 1PM ET/10AM PT on Fox Sports 2.
Gray Leadbetter’s Championship Off-Road program is supported by On Track School, Yokohama, Pepper Palace, Sparco, Vision Wheel, and Ryan Beat Motorsports. For more information on Gray, follow her on social media @grayleadbetter or visit GrayLeadbetter.com for her full schedule.

#TransAm: Tomy Drissi Claims Fourth at Road America in Dramatic Last-Lap Battle

- Tomy Drissi finished fourth in Saturday’s Trans Am race at Road America after a last-lap pass
- The result was the best of Drissi’s Trans Am career at Road America, as well as his fifth consecutive top five finish this season
- Drissi remains third in the championship, extending his advantage over fourth to 13 points
2009 Trans Am champion Tomy Drissi and the Drissi Motorsports team scored their fifth consecutive top-five finish and sixth of the 2025 Trans Am by Pirelli season at Road America on Saturday. In a thrilling three-way fight for fourth place on the last lap, Drissi and the #8 Trench Shoring Company/Motul/Franklin Road Apparel Chevrolet Camaro came out on top, beating Brandon Jones to the line by just .130 seconds.
Drissi was involved in battles for position throughout the race, but none were more dramatic than the final few laps. He spent the time slashing the gap to fourth place while also facing pressure from a hard-charging Jones behind him. Using the slipstream on Road America’s long straightaways, he made the decisive pass in Turn 5 on the last lap before breaking Jones’ draft off the final corner to defend the spot across the line.
The fourth place run marked Drissi’s career best result at Road America. In 16 previous starts, he had scored multiple fifth place finishes, including in each of the past two years. The result also allowed Drissi to strengthen his hold on third in the TA championship standings, increasing his advantage to 13 points over fourth with five races remaining.
“That was an amazing finish at Road America!” said Drissi. “We definitely had the most exciting battle on track in the closing laps, and I hope the fans were excited with what they saw. We had a really good fight with Brandon Jones for fourth at the end! It was great to be able to score some decent points as we enter the second half of the season too. Thanks to the whole team for their efforts during this busy stretch of the year, all our sponsors, and the fans for their support. We’re going to recharge during the off weekend and come out swinging at Watkins Glen!”
After a well-deserved off weekend, Drissi Motorsports will wrap up the busiest stretch of the season on July 11-13 with a return to Watkins Glen International for Trans Am’s third event in four weeks. Last year, Drissi scored his fourth podium of the season with a third place finish at the historic New York circuit. Click here to buy tickets to watch Tomy race!
