#RallyX Set to Crown 2025 Champions in Massive Estering Finale

RallyX has saved some of its best for last in the 2025 season with this weekend’s trip to Buxtehude, Germany for a doubleheader at the Estering. With championships still on the line for every division, leads as narrow as a single point, and an entry list of well over 100 cars competing on one of the sport’s most iconic tracks, it’s hard for fans and competitors alike to ask for more out of a race weekend.
Check out our look ahead at some of the biggest storylines coming into Estering, and be sure to tune in for FREE live streaming all weekend long at https://www.youtube.com/@RallyXTV!
Big Finale for FC2 After Historic Victory at Nysum
Casper Jansson made rallycross history at Nysum by giving the FC2 its first overall win in Open 4WD, finishing 1-2 with Olsbergs MSE teammate Oliver Eriksson in challenging, stormy conditions. Along with that, podiums in all five FC2 finals so far have given the Swede a two-point advantage over Fraser McConnell in those standings, although the Jamaican racer won both FC2 finals in Denmark and is the highest-ranked FC2 driver in Open 4WD itself.
But with an expanded FC2 grid for the finale, the challenge will be that much greater this weekend. Along with the usual challenges from drivers like McConnell and Eriksson, Jansson will renew the battle that he faced in Nitrocross last fall with Finn Tommi Hallman and American Mitchell deJong, as both return to the seat this weekend.
Championship Drama for Open 4WD
If you want proof that anything can happen in rallycross, look no further than Open 4WD in Nysum. Maiko Tamm went from 19 points up on Ulrik Linnemann coming into the event, to 11 points behind Linnemann coming into Estering; while Tamm missed both finals in Denmark, Linnemann put up a big performance in his home country with a third place on Saturday and a popular victory on Sunday.
Still, even if Nysum hadn’t shown how quickly things can change in the standings, the massive expansion of the Open 4WD field at Estering would mean no lead is safe anyway. With drivers like René Münnich and Peter Hedström returning to the fray in Supercars, not to mention Hallman and deJong back in the mix in FC2s, one stroke of luck—good or bad—could make all the difference for either driver, not to mention giving Filip Martinsson or Viktor Vranckx an outside shot at the title.
Close Title Fights Throughout the Classes
The drama is far from contained to the top-level 4WD cars, though. In fact, three other classes have single-digit margins separating the current leader from their closest pursuit.
SuperCar Lites sees a three-way battle between Julien Meunier, Lukas Andersson, and Roberts Vitols, who are separated by just seven points between them. Andersson is the most recent winner, taking his first of the year at Nysum, while Vitols leads the class with three. However, Meunier’s five-race streak of finishes of second or better, including wins at KymiRing and Älvsbyn, have given him the edge.
Open 2WD is a two-way fight between Viktor Johansson and Lucas Gabrielsson, who came into last Sunday’s final at Nysum tied for the championship lead. Johansson’s victory gave him the three-point advantage that he currently holds, but with the largest grid of any class on track this weekend, both will need to be at their best to take home the title.
CrossCar Junior has the closest battle of all. Finland’s Peetu Piira leads Sweden’s Carl Svedlund by just one point, 176-175. The duo has combined to win every race so far; the difference is that Piira leads in wins, 4-3, with no finishes worse than third, while Svedlund took one fourth place at Älvsbyn to go with his three wins and six total podiums. Such is the margin of error in their battle that even a single spot off the podium, a single time, could end up making the difference in the end.
The largest points lead of all belongs to Thomas Eek Murstad in CrossCar, as he has a 17-point advantage over Joonatan Ylilammi. But Ylilammi has a class-leading three wins this season, plus a win here last year, so who’s to say he can’t close the gap?
Carl Svedlund, Casper Jansson, Estering, Filip Martinsson, Fraser McConnell, Joonatan Ylilammi, Julien Meunier, Lucas Gabrielsson, Lukas Andersson, Maiko Tamm, Mitchell deJong, Oliver Eriksson, Peetu Piira, Peter Hedstrom, RallyX, Rene Munnich, Roberts Vitols, Thomas Eek Murstad, Tommi Hallman, Ulrik Linnemann, Viktor Johansson, Viktor Vranckx -
