  • #ChampOffRoad: Gray Leadbetter Scores Breakthrough Pro Lite Podium at Bark River

#ChampOffRoad: Gray Leadbetter Scores Breakthrough Pro Lite Podium at Bark River

Professional off-road racer Gray Leadbetter earned a slice of redemption in Sunday’s Championship Off-Road Pro Lite action from Bark River International Raceway. After two hardware-worthy performances at Dirt City Motorplex last month fell short due to unlucky breaks, the driver of the #28 On Track School/Yokohama/Pepper Palace/Ryan Beat Motorsports Chevrolet finally got her first Pro Lite podium with a second place finish in the first race of the weekend.

“I’m kind of speechless,” Leadbetter said from the podium. “We had the opportunity in Dirt City, and obviously things just didn’t go our way, so I’m just happy to be here. It feels so good to be up here and back on the box with everyone. I kind of like racing in the morning! Can we do this more often?”

Saturday’s scheduled race was postponed until Sunday morning due to weather, but Leadbetter was undeterred. She settled into fourth in the first half of the race and turned the wick up a notch after the re-rack, pushing hard while also defending her spot from multiple challengers. Contact between the leaders and a subsequent penalty advanced her to third, then second, and she avoided mistakes as the drivers fighting for third made contact of their own in the closing minutes.

The afternoon was set to be more of the same as Leadbetter once again ran in podium position for most of the race, but unfortunately she’d pull off from third with under two laps to go. Nonetheless, thanks to her podium in the morning, Leadbetter is back to fifth in the championship. She sits just four points out of fourth place coming into Labor Day weekend at Crandon International Raceway.

“It felt so good to get a podium under our belt after the battles of Dirt City,” Leadbetter added. “Although the bad luck still came our way in the second race of the weekend, we once again know we have the pace, even at the bigger tracks. We’re looking forward to Crandon. It’s always a fun time there and I’m so excited to see what we can do in the Cup race!”

  • #RallyX Set to Crown 2025 Champions in Massive Estering Finale

#RallyX Set to Crown 2025 Champions in Massive Estering Finale

RallyX has saved some of its best for last in the 2025 season with this weekend’s trip to Buxtehude, Germany for a doubleheader at the Estering. With championships still on the line for every division, leads as narrow as a single point, and an entry list of well over 100 cars competing on one of the sport’s most iconic tracks, it’s hard for fans and competitors alike to ask for more out of a race weekend.

Check out our look ahead at some of the biggest storylines coming into Estering, and be sure to tune in for FREE live streaming all weekend long at https://www.youtube.com/@RallyXTV!

Big Finale for FC2 After Historic Victory at Nysum

Casper Jansson made rallycross history at Nysum by giving the FC2 its first overall win in Open 4WD, finishing 1-2 with Olsbergs MSE teammate Oliver Eriksson in challenging, stormy conditions. Along with that, podiums in all five FC2 finals so far have given the Swede a two-point advantage over Fraser McConnell in those standings, although the Jamaican racer won both FC2 finals in Denmark and is the highest-ranked FC2 driver in Open 4WD itself.

But with an expanded FC2 grid for the finale, the challenge will be that much greater this weekend. Along with the usual challenges from drivers like McConnell and Eriksson, Jansson will renew the battle that he faced in Nitrocross last fall with Finn Tommi Hallman and American Mitchell deJong, as both return to the seat this weekend.

    Championship Drama for Open 4WD

If you want proof that anything can happen in rallycross, look no further than Open 4WD in Nysum. Maiko Tamm went from 19 points up on Ulrik Linnemann coming into the event, to 11 points behind Linnemann coming into Estering; while Tamm missed both finals in Denmark, Linnemann put up a big performance in his home country with a third place on Saturday and a popular victory on Sunday.

Still, even if Nysum hadn’t shown how quickly things can change in the standings, the massive expansion of the Open 4WD field at Estering would mean no lead is safe anyway. With drivers like René Münnich and Peter Hedström returning to the fray in Supercars, not to mention Hallman and deJong back in the mix in FC2s, one stroke of luck—good or bad—could make all the difference for either driver, not to mention giving Filip Martinsson or Viktor Vranckx an outside shot at the title.

Close Title Fights Throughout the Classes

The drama is far from contained to the top-level 4WD cars, though. In fact, three other classes have single-digit margins separating the current leader from their closest pursuit.

SuperCar Lites sees a three-way battle between Julien Meunier, Lukas Andersson, and Roberts Vitols, who are separated by just seven points between them. Andersson is the most recent winner, taking his first of the year at Nysum, while Vitols leads the class with three. However, Meunier’s five-race streak of finishes of second or better, including wins at KymiRing and Älvsbyn, have given him the edge.

Open 2WD is a two-way fight between Viktor Johansson and Lucas Gabrielsson, who came into last Sunday’s final at Nysum tied for the championship lead. Johansson’s victory gave him the three-point advantage that he currently holds, but with the largest grid of any class on track this weekend, both will need to be at their best to take home the title.

CrossCar Junior has the closest battle of all. Finland’s Peetu Piira leads Sweden’s Carl Svedlund by just one point, 176-175. The duo has combined to win every race so far; the difference is that Piira leads in wins, 4-3, with no finishes worse than third, while Svedlund took one fourth place at Älvsbyn to go with his three wins and six total podiums. Such is the margin of error in their battle that even a single spot off the podium, a single time, could end up making the difference in the end.

The largest points lead of all belongs to Thomas Eek Murstad in CrossCar, as he has a 17-point advantage over Joonatan Ylilammi. But Ylilammi has a class-leading three wins this season, plus a win here last year, so who’s to say he can’t close the gap?

A third-generation off-road racer, Jones previously served as President of the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series’ regional programs, where he led successful racing events across Arizona and Utah for 10 years. In addition, Jones also served as LOORRS’ national series event manager and logistics coordinator from 2016 to 2019.

RallyX crowns its 2025 champions this weekend in Germany with a return to the famed Estering circuit. More than 100 entries, including major boosts to the premier Open 4WD and Open 2WD divisions, will take part in this weekend’s doubleheader, with multiple classes separated by three points or less coming into the event.

At 0.927 kliometers (.576 miles), Estering packs a lot of action into a tight space, especially with its highly technical Joker Lap that rejoins the main lap just before the finish line. A victory here is a feather in the cap for any driver who manages to conquer the Buxtehude circuit. In fact, many of last year’s Estering winners used their success in the 2024 finale to help them move up a class for this year.

#ChampOffRoad: Gray Leadbetter Returns to Action at Bark River; Merch Available Now!

Gray Leadbetter and #28 On Track School/Yokohama/Pepper Palace/Ryan Beat Motorsports Chevrolet return to Championship Off-Road Pro Lite action this weekend at Bark River International Raceway for the Off-Road Rumble in the U.P. After showing front-running pace at Dirt City Motorplex two weekends ago, Leadbetter enters the series’ lone Michigan round with her sights firmly set on her first podium of the season.

Mechanical issues robbed Leadbetter of podiums on both days at Dirt City, with her running third on Saturday and second on Sunday. While the results sheets told a disappointing story, Leadbetter’s on-track pace—plus an immediate test session at Bark River the day after—have her poised for a strong recovery this weekend.

“I’m looking forward to Bark River!” said Leadbetter. “We were able to get there to test and make a few laps. And felt very good in the truck, since switching from a short, tight slower track to Bark River that is wide open and fast. We’re putting the bad luck behind us for this weekend and are going to push to be up front, we proved we can now we just have to do it.”

Off track, fans have been waiting for Gray to drop merchandise featuring this year’s look, and it’s here just in time for the biggest rounds of the season. Fans on hand at Bark River can pick up Gray Leadbetter T-shirts and hats on site, or click here to get yours online!

“I also now have merch!” Leadbetter continued. “It’s something I’ve been working on all summer and am very excited to get it to everyone, since I’ve been asked for years! I will have it at Bark River and Crandon (inventory depending) but if you’re unable to make it to the races or don’t want to risk missing out, it’s online! So get yours now!”
