- Tomy Drissi finished second in the TA class in Saturday’s Trans Am race from Lime Rock Park
- The podium was Drissi Motorsports’ fourth in a row in the 2026 season, and Drissi’s second in a row at Lime Rock
- Drissi remains third in the TA championship through five rounds
2009 Trans Am champion Tomy Drissi and the #8 Trench Shoring Company/Motul Chevrolet Camaro finished second in the premier TA class in Saturday’s Memorial Day Classic from Lime Rock Park. The podium was his third of the 2026 season and the fourth in a row for Drissi Motorsports, enabling Drissi to maintain third place in the TA championship standings.
After switching to the team’s second car due to an off-track excursion in Thursday testing, Drissi qualified fifth on Friday afternoon. With the rain coming in for Saturday’s 75-minute race, his focus would turn towards managing the difficult conditions and minimizing issues. While the leaders would spend most of the first half dueling for position, Drissi focused on logging consistent laps, recovering cleanly from two off-track issues, and building on good luck in those recoveries to take advantage of any opportunities that arose ahead of him.
Just around halfway, things started breaking Drissi’s way. First, a mechanical issue for Matthew Brabham and an incident for Chris Dyson would move Drissi up into a podium position. Then, with under 10 laps to go, second place David Pintaric would have an incident of his own, allowing Drissi to swap spots with him.
When the checkered flag fell, Drissi would cross the line second in class behind Paul Menard, his third podium at the track in the past six years and second in a row. On a weekend where the racing world was mourning the loss of the legendary Kyle Busch, it was only fitting that Drissi could bring a black and gold #8 Camaro—similar to the cars that Busch raced in the NASCAR Cup Series—onto the podium.
“First of all, Lime Rock Park and the fans, that you all for coming out,” Drissi said from the podium. “I was praying for rain, because we’re usually really good in the rain, but we couldn’t put the setup on that was magic, when we were on the pole in the rain a couple of years ago. Sometimes it’s like being in ‘The Tortoise and The Hare’—I don’t like being the tortoise, but look where it got us. Congratulations to Menard on the win.”
